My husband's 70 year old bed-ridden aunt had one request for her big birthday - a bavarian cream cake. This precious woman is in a nursing home with NO visitors except for my husband and I (despite several family members living in the same town). She complains about nothing. She asks for nothing. She is grateful for everything. She is just too easy to love. So the minute she made her cake request I knew I had to make it happen. Let the googling begin! I rarely bake but I was going to find a recipe and make this cake for her. Lots & lots of recipes into my search I came across Lynn's Cake and Candy - my lifesaver!! So I made the cake myself with the help of Lynn's DELICIOUS Bavarian cream filling. Y'all. Oh. My. Goodness. When I say I considered putting that bavarian cream into a big bowl and plopping down on the couch with a big spoon I am not telling a lie. It was out of this world DELICIOUS!! There was more than enough cream for one cake so I ended up making two cakes & just layering & layering & layering. The cake was dang near 10 pounds and was an absolute HIT!! We celebrated with my husband's aunt and she was so happy! She loved it!! Then we had this huge cake minus 3 slices left over. As hard as it was to part with this delicious cake, I made the decision to leave it with the nursing home staff so they could be blessed for the blessing they are to my husband's aunt. When I say they LOVED IT I am not at all exaggerating. Sorry for the rambling but thank you thank you thank you Lynn's Cake and Candy for making a 70th birthday celebration so wonderful!! I cannot wait to have another cake need because I will definitely be ordering from you again! THANK YOU!!!!
I entered the store 15 minutes before closing, only had a few things to purchase and knew exactly where they were. Immediately after stepping through the door the cashier told me they were closing in 15 minutes. The entire time I was there she was ushering me around asking if I needed anything else, I felt as though I was being pushed out of the door.
Thanks for the review Lauri! There may be confusion regarding the store hours. We were going to use this as a teaching moment with the team, so we checked the cameras to ensure our facts were straight. It looks like you came in just after 2:45, but closing time is 2:45 on Saturdays. The employee who greeted you was a new employee who was supposed to have locked the door, as our senior employee was working with another customer. Her pushiness was likely her trying to cover the error, and that pushiness is not our goal. We do apologize, and will address the pushiness!
As a note for the future, it is our goal to close at the closing time stated on our door and website. We are a small shop, and while we do absolutely value our customers and want to always provide excellent customer service, we also need to balance that with keeping our employees happy by not impeding on their personal time!
We hope to see you back in the store in the future, we will do better next time!!
